Last year, when we learned about the eviction from our Cherry Hill farm, we realized there were many internal structures we did not have together as an organization. At that moment, we knew we had a lot of work to do to sustain the movement toward Black people controlling every aspect of our food system.
Whew, that was a rough time for us.
We united as a staff and community to turn hardship into an opportunity for growth and abundance. We have made a lot of progress developing our new farm in Mount Clare and building relationships with the community there. We expanded the capacity and impact of our programming.
We know the ancestors are smiling down on us, proud of how we tapped into our collective wisdom and resources and have grown so much in one year.With Keep The Flame, we can honor those who came before us and create a legacy that will build on their efforts and make them proud. As we do this, we will become grounded in the things that matter most – love, service, and connection.
